The MTA is stupid, but you already knew that

So the w (local) in queens is replaced by the n (local), the q(express) replaced the n(express). So someone please tell me why I’m currently on a Q (local). Are there seriously no more manhattan bound express trains from Astoria? What the hell is the point of having 2 locals that go to the same place on the same track?
